Claude Guillemot, co-founder of Ubisoft, has passed away in a plane crash

Claude Guillemot, a key figure in the formation of the renowned French gaming company Ubisoft, has tragically passed away following a plane crash.

The incident was initially reported by Ouest France, with Bloomberg later confirming the details. The crash took place on Friday, June 19, in La Baule, Brittany, claiming the lives of both passengers aboard the twin-engine Cessna 421.

Guillemot was 69 at the time of his passing.

Ubisoft expressed their condolences in a statement, saying they are "deeply saddened to learn of the death of Claude Guillemot, co-founder of the group and chairman of Guillemot Corp., in an accident.” They further added, “Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. No further statements will be made at this time.”

Apart from helping to establish Ubisoft, Guillemot also served as the chairman of Guillemot Corp, known for its connection with the accessory brand, Thrustmaster.
