Media: Wildberries planned to invest over 2 billion rubles in the development of a gaming division, but changed its mind—at least for now

In November 2025, media outlets learned that the company Wildberries & Russ was preparing to enter the video game industry—something hinted at by the registered trademark GG WB. However, seven months later, the company decided to put its plans "on hold," reports the newspaper "Kommersant".

According to "Kommersant", the company has postponed its entry into the video game market indefinitely. How long this "pause" might last is unknown.

Sources cited by the newspaper estimated the potential investment by Wildberries & Russ in developing its gaming branch at 2.5 billion rubles. It is believed that the company intended to spend this money on launching a cloud gaming service and game store, as well as purchasing a game development studio.

Wildberries & Russ declined to answer "Kommersant"'s questions, stating that they do not comment on rumors.
