In Sweden, a large fine for Roar Vegas was canceled
The Swedish court sided with the online casino operator Roar Vegas in its proceedings against the Swedish gaming regulator. It ruled to overturn the fine imposed on the company, amounting to 8 million Swedish kronor (735 thousand euros).
The fine was issued in March 2025 following an investigation into Roar Vegas’s compliance with requirements to protect gamers from gambling addiction. At the time, the regulator concluded that the company did not respond quickly enough to signs of excessive gaming activity among part of its audience. Roar Vegas disagreed and took the matter to court.
After 15 months, the Swedish court confirmed that some gamers at Roar Vegas showed signs of addiction and high-risk behavior. However, it also noted that Roar Vegas had promptly undertaken several measures: for instance, it began automatically warning players about potential problems, implemented deposit limits, and even contacted some gamers directly.
The Swedish regulator now has three weeks to file an appeal.
