Media: Ninja Theory's fate was sealed even before the announcement of Senua
Recently, the media discovered that Microsoft intends to shut down several studios. One of them is Ninja Theory, which just a week ago unveiled the third part of the Hellblade series. As reported by journalist Stephen Totilo of Game File, by the time of Senua's announcement, the corporation had already decided it wanted to close or sell Ninja Theory.
Senua
According to Totilo, Microsoft deliberately allowed Ninja Theory to announce Senua despite its decision. It assumed that this would make it easier for the studio to attract potential investors interested in purchasing it. However, whether Ninja Theory itself was aware of this plan is unknown to Totilo's sources.
It is reported that Ninja Theory's management is currently negotiating with Microsoft in an attempt to avoid closure, hoping to separate and continue working independently of the corporation.
If the media is to be believed, alongside Ninja Theory, Double Fine Productions, Compulsion Games, and Arkane Lyon are also at risk of closure.
Microsoft acquired Ninja Theory in 2018 for $117 million.
