Ubisoft faces additional job cuts, now affecting its San Francisco location
The same day Ubisoft declared its plans to shut down studios in Winnipeg and Belgrade, along with proposing changes in Barcelona, layoffs are also reported at its San Francisco location. The news, as reported by Insider Gaming, came during an internal meeting, indicating potential cuts amidst the company's ongoing restructuring efforts aiming for $200 million in savings, with 380 positions at risk.
Although exact figures are not confirmed, estimates suggest that between 50 and 100 roles might be vulnerable in San Francisco. In August 2024, Ubisoft laid off 45 team members across its San Francisco studio and Red Storm Entertainment in Cary, North Carolina. This San Francisco office was known for its work on the online shooter, XDefiant.
