PlatinumGames, renowned for developing Bayonetta, has taken on the project to develop Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, driven by their immense admiration for the franchise. This detail was shared by Dan Prigg, who leads the newly unveiled Paramount Games Studio. The announcement that PlatinumGames will be at the helm of the new game took place during the Summer Game Fest event.

Just prior, Paramount introduced its renewed gaming division. Previously functioning under various names, the studio was known for licensed works, including a SpongeBob SquarePants experience on Roblox. After merging with Skydance in August 2025, the studio has been restructured.

Previously managing Skydance Interactive, Prigg is now serving as executive vice president and head of games at Paramount. He noted that before the merger, Platinum had already shown interest in tackling the IP. "They were clearly fans," Prigg explained to GamesIndustry.biz. "We learned about their interest after the merger... it was one of those situations where we felt compelled to create this game. It was an opportunity we couldn't pass up."

Prigg elaborated on the collaboration with Platinum, noting the mutual enthusiasm for the project. "Meeting with their team and discussing ideas revealed an exciting potential. Pre-merger, such a partnership might not have been feasible, but with the merger, we had more capacity to support and elevate such ideas, reinforcing our corporate strategy."

Prigg also praised Platinum as a "fantastic triple-A studio passionate about Paramount's IP," emphasizing their goal to partner with studios that share this enthusiasm.

Paramount Games Studio now incorporates Skydance's two subsidiaries, Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media, continuing with titles like Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and an upcoming Star Wars game. They will collaborate with other developers, including Platinum, to create more games based on Paramount properties, with further announcements anticipated soon.

A comprehensive interview with Prigg, focusing on the formation and objectives of Paramount Games Studio, will be available on Monday.
