Nordic Game 2026 welcomed a notable rise in attendance, experiencing a 6% growth from the prior year.

The event hosted more than 1,100 businesses from 59 nations.

Among the 179 speakers spread across five stages, notables included Christofer Sundberg of Liquid Swords, Gerardo Basurto from Embark Studios, and Wishfully's Adam Stjärnljus and Klas Eriksson, alongside Jennifer Svedberg-Yen of Sandfall Interactive.

Sessions from the main stage were broadcasted on YouTube, Twitch, and Stream with over 150,000 viewers tuning in.

"We had an unbelievable week," relayed program director Jacob Riis. "The community's expansion is remarkable, and it's incredible to witness international participation in Malmö.

"It's all about the passionate individuals who congregate here—attending the conference and creating significant side events with us. Together, we've established what many now call 'the Nordic Game week'."

In a conversation with GamesIndustry.biz, Riis highlighted this year's gathering as the moment for indie developers.

"Today, the industry thrives on indie developers who bring fresh perspectives. The focus has shifted from monetization to the artistry of gaming, creating experiences that resonate. It's less about game duration and more about the emotional impact on gamers."

Features editor Lewis Packwood attended the event, describing a theme revolving around navigating a challenging transition period marked by excessive competition and financial constraints.

Meanwhile, Arc Raiders clinched the Nordic Game of the Year award, also receiving accolades for Best Technology and Best Audio.

The upcoming Nordic Game event is scheduled for May 25 to May 28, 2027.
