Arc Raiders has been awarded the title of Nordic Game of the Year at the Nordic Game Awards

On May 28, during the Nordic Game conference in Malmö, Sweden, Arc Raiders claimed the esteemed title of Nordic Game of the Year at the Nordic Game Awards.

Competing in the same category were titles including Battlefield 6, Dune: Awakening, Split Fiction, and My Winter Car. In addition to the top accolade, Embark Studios' Arc Raiders also earned recognition for best technology and best audio.

Although Split Fiction was up for four awards, it secured one for Best Game Design. Conversely, Battlefield 6, nominated across three categories, did not win any awards.

In total, Swedish gaming studios were honored with five out of the seven awards given, acknowledging the standout titles from Nordic regions. Danish-developed games secured the remaining honors, with Discounty receiving Best Debut and Lego Voyagers winning Best Fun for Everyone.

  • Best Game Design: Split Fiction by Hazelight Studios (Sweden)

  • Best Fun for Everyone: Lego Voyagers by Light Brick Studio (Denmark)
  • Best Debut: Discounty by Crinkle Cut Games (Denmark)
The Nordic Game Awards took place in Malmö on May 28.

The People's Choice Award was awarded to Lootbound, a creation of Artdock Games from Moldova. This prize is determined by feedback from attendees at the Nordic Game conference and is specific to indie exhibitors.

An emotional moment during the event was the "Ukrainian Intermezzo," a tribute to Ukrainian game developers, which was met with a standing ovation. Jacob Riis, the conference organizer, also honored Ari Pulkkinen, an audio designer, granting him "legendary" status. Pulkkinen recently led the audio team for Saros.

The event marked the 18th occurrence of the Nordic Game Awards and was emceed by Magnus Bruun, the Danish actor known for his role as the male Eivor in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Patrick Söderlund, head of Embark Studios, shared with GamesIndustry.biz insights on how Arc Raiders was developed on a significantly smaller budget than typical AAA titles.
