Nintendo might increase the production of Switch 2 consoles to 20 million units, representing a 20% boost, even though previous estimates suggested a decrease in sales from 16.9% to 16.5 million units for the upcoming fiscal year.

Bloomberg has disclosed that insiders revealed this adjustment is not yet set in stone and could be altered in response to market demand.

Initially, before launching Switch 2, Nintendo anticipated selling 15 million units, but the year concluded with sales reaching 19.9 million units.

Industry expert Serkan Toto noted, "There’s no harm for them in underestimating numbers early and then exceeding expectations later, as evidenced by the fiscal year that just ended."

Despite Nintendo implementing price hikes due to ongoing market conditions, the company president, Shuntaro Furukawa, mentioned, Toto forecasts the sale of 18 million units this fiscal year.

"Consumers will gradually adapt to the increased prices, and Nintendo has strategies like offering bundles to alleviate these effects," added Toto. "I wouldn’t be shocked if they surpass these numbers."

Furukawa explained that their recent prediction of 16.5 million units reflects the current sales momentum and previous sales behavior of dedicated gaming systems in their second year.

He added, "The adoption rate of Switch 2 is very rapid, even compared to the original Switch, and we currently don't have any major concerns regarding its growth trajectory."

Nintendo intends to unveil numerous new games for the Switch 2, ensuring that they highlight each title's appeal to encourage gradual user transition to the new system.

"Our strategy is to expand the Switch 2 user base over the medium to long term and enhance both software sales and the number of users playing annually," Furukawa stated.

Following the first fiscal year of the Switch 2, Nintendo recorded notable increases in net sales and profits, reporting ¥2.3 trillion ($14.6 billion) in net sales, which constitutes a 98.6% rise.

Moreover, there was a substantial 106.7% jump in dedicated platform sales, amassing ¥2.2 trillion ($14 billion) from hardware, software, and related accessories.
