In Indonesia, Polymarket has been blocked

The Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs of Indonesia has blocked access to the prediction platform Polymarket within the country's borders. The reason cited was a violation of gambling laws.

At a press conference in Jakarta, Alexander Sabar, head of the Digital Space Authorization Office at the ministry, stated that the Indonesian authorities do not tolerate any forms of illegal online gambling, which is precisely what Polymarket represents. He pointed out that Polymarket users wager real money — even in the form of cryptocurrencies — on the outcomes of various events, including elections.

Indonesia is not the first country to have blocked Polymarket. Previously, full or partial restrictions were imposed on the platform in Singapore, Brazil, India, Thailand, China, and Japan.

It is expected that in the coming days, Indonesian authorities may also block another similar platform — Kalshi.
