Quantic Dream will undergo a reorganization following the failure of Spellcasters Chronicles — the game itself will be shut down

At the end of February 2026, Quantic Dream released the MOBA Spellcasters Chronicles in early access format. Three months have passed since then, but the game has not succeeded in attracting a wide audience.

In an official statement, Quantic Dream announced that the metrics for Spellcasters Chronicles were insufficient to ensure the game's long-term future. They did not provide specific figures, but according to SteamDB, the title peaked at only 888 concurrent players.

The servers for Spellcasters Chronicles will be shut down on June 19. Gamers who spent money in the game will be able to request a refund from Quantic Dream.

Quantic Dream promised to reassign the MOBA's developers to other project teams if possible, but they did not rule out that not everyone might find a new position. It is not specified how many people might potentially lose their jobs. In any case, Quantic Dream emphasized that the reorganization will not affect Star Wars Eclipse.

Earlier, sources from Insider Gaming reported that if Spellcasters Chronicles fails, the studio might lose funding from NetEase, its parent company. How credible these rumors are will become clear in the near future.
