Quantic Dream has announced the closure of Spellcasters Chronicles merely three months following its release.

The game will stay operational until June 19, 2026, when its servers will be permanently taken offline. Full refunds will be provided for any early access purchases upon request.

This decision leads Quantic Dream to reorganize internally, with a focus on redirecting staff to other ventures like Star Wars Eclipse, which is not impacted by these changes.

In a statement, the developer cited the game's inability to secure a sufficient audience in a challenging market as a reason for this decision. This shift allows them to concentrate on other initiatives.

"Our commitment is to manage this transition with fairness, care, and respect," the company assured.

In a conversation with GamesIndustry.biz last October, Quantic Dream's co-CEO Guillaume de Fondaumière highlighted that Spellcasters Chronicles marked the company's first foray into multiplayer, a bold step in a new direction.

De Fondaumière reflected on the complexities of innovation, noting that accurately identifying a target audience and predicting market share for a novel product is challenging.

The company's continued focus remains on producing single-player, narrative-driven experiences like Star Wars Eclipse. Notably, most of the team from Detroit: Become Human is now dedicated to working on this project.
