The Nex Playground is now open for pre-order in the UK and Ireland. This console, designed as an "active play system," comes equipped with an AI-driven camera for interactive games based on movement.
Priced at £269 in the UK and €319 in Ireland, the console includes five initial games. To access the entire library of over 60 games, users can purchase subscription passes. The annual Play Pass is £90 (€99), while the quarterly option costs £45 (€49).
Customers can place pre-orders via Amazon UK, Smyths Toys, and Argos. The console is slated for general availability in late June across these retailers and on the TikTok Shop, though the specific launch date remains unconfirmed.
Nex Team's president and international head, Tom Kang, emphasized the importance of trust and safety in developing the Nex Playground, especially when launching in new regions. He stated, "Parents in the UK and Ireland are concerned about their children's screen time and content exposure. Nex Playground addresses these concerns. The launch brings us closer to our goal of promoting active play, connectivity, growth, and joy globally."
Since its introduction in the US in 2023, Nex Playground has recorded impressive Black Friday sales, surpassing the PlayStation 5 in American hardware rankings during that event.
In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, both Kang and Nex Team CEO and co-founder David Lee shared insights about the US debut, underscoring their dedication to making gaming equipment that is accessible, family-friendly, and secure.
