The video game Mouse: P.I. For Hire, recognized for its 1930s cartoon aesthetic and shooter gameplay, has managed to cover its release costs just one month after launching.
Details shared in a recent investor presentation by PlaySide revealed that the expenses for publishing and marketing have been fully recovered. The game’s continuing sales strength is anticipated to boost PlaySide’s financial predictions for fiscal year 2026, increasing the expected revenue from $34.7 million to between $36 million and $38 million.
The company highlighted that this revision was driven mainly by better-than-anticipated sales volumes and effective wishlist conversions for Mouse: P.I. For Hire on both PC and gaming consoles. This performance came despite the game’s launch being postponed and a lack of major wins on outside projects during the year so far.
Additionally, PlaySide noted that sales on consoles now account for 50% of all units sold, as the game maintains high visibility on console platforms.
This achievement has helped PlaySide reach $64.6 million in revenue, marking a new high for the company and setting a record for its original intellectual properties with $30.3 million.
The revenue from contract work also reached unprecedented levels, achieving $34.3 million for the first time.
