New Tablets 2012

Razer, a company engaged in the creation of professional gaming equipment, announced its own tablet: its main feature is that it is designed for modern PC games. Other tablet manufacturers are entering a price war with the Kindle Fire, and Apple’s new tablet may be called the iPad 2S.

At the CES exhibition in Las Vegas, Razer presented the concept of its own gaming tablet – Project Fiona. Unlike most modern devices, the project was created specifically for PC games of the current generation.

The Project Fiona tablet is equipped with a third-generation Intel Core i7 processor, a 10.1-inch multi-touch screen with a standard resolution of 1280×800 pixels, a gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetometer (!), vibration response, as well as two healthy controller handles on both sides of the screen.

The developers assure that you will not need to port games to their device. This probably means that the tablet will run on the Windows 8 platform. The release of the device is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2012. The price has not yet been announced, but Razer assures that it will be below a thousand dollars.

Between the lines, if Razer manages to make this tablet easy to manage, and its operating time will be at the level of modern Android devices, then the industry is definitely waiting for another milestone in mobile gaming.

At the same time, at the same exhibition, other manufacturers – Asus and Lenovo – announce ultra-cheap tablet models. Apparently, the pricing policy of Amazon, which put the Kindle Fire on the market at a price of $ 199, is bearing fruit.

Asus has introduced a seven-inch Eee Pad MeMO on the quad-core Tegra 3 platform. The resolution of the device will be the same as that of the Razer gadget: 1280 by 800 pixels. It is also known that the new tablet will have 1 GB of RAM and an 8-megapixel camera. The MeMO will be released in the second quarter of 2012. The price will be quite small for such a device – $ 249.

True, the company ViewSonic went even further. The price for its seven-inch E70 tablet will be a meager 170 dollars, but they had to sacrifice the screen resolution (800×480 dots per inch versus the usual 1280×800) and the performance of the model (one core with a frequency of 1 GHz).

There have also been regular rumors about a new version of the iPad, the announcement of which will take place at the end of January. Jeremy Horwitz, editor-in-chief of iLounge, stated that he saw “the alleged next-generation iPad model” in the off state. According to him, the new Apple tablet almost does not differ from the iPad 2, except that it is slightly thinner, literally by 1 mm. Otherwise, the difference between them is visually about the same as between the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. In other words, reduced to zero.

Based on his observations, Jeremy concluded that the new version of the iPad may be called iPad 2S or iPad 2HD. But the iLounge editor also noticed that the model he saw may have been made more than six months ago. During this time, the design of the device could have changed dramatically.
