Nexon won $3.8 million in a lawsuit against the creators of Dark and Darker
In South Korea, the legal proceedings between Nexon and Ironmace, the studio behind the hardcore fantasy action game Dark and Darker, have finally concluded.

In the final phase, the case was reviewed by the country’s Supreme Court. It disagreed with Nexon’s arguments that Ironmace had infringed its copyrights since the company did not provide sufficient evidence. However, the court found the developers guilty of disclosing trade secrets and ordered the studio to compensate Nexon with 5.7 billion won ($3.8 million).
Notably, a lower court had previously ordered Ironmace to pay a much larger sum — 8.5 billion won ($5.9 million). However, the judgment was later softened.
Recall, the conflict between Nexon and Ironmace began five years ago. Nexon claimed that the developers of Dark and Darker were its former employees who stole the source code and assets from its canceled project P3 for their game.
