Ubisoft has seen a departure with Benoit Richer, who has stepped away to establish a new independent game development company, Servo Games, in Quebec. Richer publicized the launch and his new role as game director at the studio via LinkedIn.

Previously, he was game director for the anticipated Assassin's Creed project, Codename Hexe. Richer is collaborating with experienced industry figures such as Luc Tremblay, who holds multiple roles including president and creative director, Alex Drouin, serving as animation director, and Dany Marcoux, the art director.

Richer's career began at Ubisoft Montréal as a level designer back in 2001. He later moved to Electronic Arts and subsequently joined WB Games Montréal for six years before rejoining Ubisoft Montréal as a game director, focusing on Codename Hexe.

His departure marks the third senior team member leaving the Codename Hexe initiative. In a similar shift, Marc-Alexis Côté, a former prominent figure in the franchise, exited the project last October and proceeded with legal action against Ubisoft, citing "constructive dismissal" due to the transition of the Assassin's Creed brand to Vantage Studios, a Tencent-associated entity.

Additionally, Clint Hocking, who was the creative director for Codename Hexe, departed Ubisoft in February as part of a restructuring strategy within the company. Following these changes, Jean Guesdon has taken over as the new creative director for the project.

Codename Hexe was initially revealed in 2022, with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot recently confirming that the game is part of a lineup being developed at Vantage Studios, alongside new entries in the Far Cry series.
