GamesIndustry.biz is preparing to travel to Brazil next week to provide coverage of Gamescom Latam in São Paulo, scheduled from April 29 to May 3.

Look forward to a special episode of the revamped GI Podcast, along with upcoming articles based on news and interviews from the event.

The Brazilian game developers association, Abragames, will present a showcase of 36 games from Brazil, featuring Talaka, a game with Afro-Brazilian folklore influences, published by the recently revived Acclaim. Abragames is also organizing initiatives such as the XDev Executive Bootcamp, business speed meetings, industry track talks, and the Abragames Pitch Arena.

"Brazil is entering a defining phase in its emergence as a global game development hub," stated Rodrigo Terra, president of Abragames. "Our presence at Gamescom Latam 2026 goes beyond showcasing standout titles – it underscores the strength of a coordinated national ecosystem."

Additionally, the event will feature a panel discussion with PUBG creator Brendan Greene. Composer David Wise, known for his work with Rare, will perform with the Brazilian band Gameboys and give a talk.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see more than 400 games at Gamescom Latam, with the BIG (Best International Games) Awards being held on the opening night. This year's finalists include Moonlighter 2 and MIO: Memories in Orbit.

First launched in 2024, Gamescom Latam reported a 30% increase in attendance in 2025, attracting 130,000 visitors. However, last year’s event was not without criticism, as exhibitors raised concerns about their treatment.
