The hacker group ShinyHunters has released information online that they managed to steal from Rockstar Games. Notably, the leaked materials revealed the earnings of GTA Online and Red Dead Online.

Below are some insights from the leak.

  • Since September 2025, the daily revenue of GTA Online has averaged $1.3 million, with weekly earnings at $9.59 million. It is estimated that the game generates approximately $498.8 million annually.
  • Red Dead Online earns significantly less. On average, it makes $507,190 per week and $26.4 million annually.

  • The GTA+ subscription accounts for 26% of GTA Online's daily revenue. The remaining 74% comes from Shark Cards purchases, which are exchanged for in-game currency.

  • The average active audience of GTA Online exceeds 9.9 million people, but only 4% of them spend money in the game. As for Red Dead Online, it's actively played by an average of 969,800 people, with 1.58% being paying gamers.

  • The PlayStation 5 is the highest revenue-generating platform for GTA Online. Typically, console owners spend about $4.48 million per week in the game. In second place is the Xbox Series X with $1.86 million. PC gamers are considerably more frugal, with their weekly expenditures in GTA Online averaging $264,300. However, PC accounts for the smallest portion of the game's audience.

  • When it comes to countries, the most revenue for GTA Online comes from the USA. From September 9, 2025, to March 24, 2026, it earned a total of $153 million there. The top five countries by revenue also include the United Kingdom ($25.17 million), Germany ($15.73 million), Australia ($8.95 million), and France ($8.73 million).

Interestingly, initially, the hackers demanded a ransom to keep the information secret but were refused. Even before the leak, Rockstar Games described the stolen data as "insignificant" in media comments, assuring that the breach had no impact on them or the gamers. It appears that the hackers did not indeed obtain anything critically important.
