Epic Games is collaborating with Disney on a new game likened to Arc Raiders, an extraction shooter with Disney characters. Bloomberg reports that this project is among several under development, with a release anticipated in November. Sources familiar with the matter describe it as a shooting game where Disney characters fight through challenges to reach an extraction point, similar to the gameplay found in Embark Studios' Arc Raiders.

Concerns have been raised internally about its uniqueness and quality, as some employees allegedly question Epic's trend of releasing what they term as "Version 0.5" games. However, Epic Games has refuted these claims, with Liz Markham, their senior director of global communications, stating that such reports do not align with the goals of the Disney partnership.

"We are crafting a new universe of Disney experiences in gaming and entertainment," Markham asserted. "Our development approach is aggressive, prioritizing imminent releases while assigning smaller teams to projects scheduled for later." Meanwhile, a Disney spokesperson emphasized the ongoing energy and commitment behind their collaborative efforts with Epic, stating that their vision for a groundbreaking games and entertainment universe remains intact.

In February 2024, Disney invested $1.5 billion into Epic Games, acquiring a stake and announcing a significant collaboration involving Fortnite. This venture is designed to be an "open, persistent, social universe," enabling fans to access content, and engage with characters and stories from Disney’s various franchises, such as Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, and Avatar.

Despite these developments, the company faced financial challenges leading to over 1,000 layoffs due to decreased user engagement with Fortnite, resulting in expenditure exceeding revenue.
