In Latvia, the gambling regulator was abolished

The Latvian authorities have decided to disband the Gambling and Lottery Supervision Inspection (IAUI). Its functions have been transferred to the State Revenue Service of Latvia.

The country's Ministry of Finance stated that these changes should streamline regulation and modernize the supervisory system. Additionally, they will help reduce costs and bureaucracy. A separate unit for licensing and compliance monitoring has already been established within the Latvian State Revenue Service, and another team will handle remote and on-site inspections.

The decision comes amid changes in gambling regulation in other Baltic countries. For example, in Estonia, the gambling tax is being gradually reduced this year, while in Lithuania, a proposal has been made to introduce a mandatory player card for participating in gambling.
