Playtech has begun a strategic review of the Sun Bingo business
The company Playtech is questioning the future viability of the white-label business of the online bingo operator Sun Bingo. During a teleconference with investors, Chief Financial Officer Chris McGinnis announced the launch of a strategic audit.
According to McGinnis, in April 2026, the tax on remote gambling in the UK increased from 21% to 40%, which could make Sun Bingo's operations unprofitable.
Nonetheless, Sun Bingo, as noted by the top manager, remains an important part of Playtech's portfolio, as it is closer to B2B by its characteristics, despite the direct engagement with customers.
In 2025, Playtech's total revenue fell by 10% to €763.6 million. Revenue from B2C alone dropped by 20% to €78.5 million, mainly due to the sale of Happybet in Germany. Revenue from B2B decreased by 9% to €688.3 million. The company’s EBITDA amounted to €197 million, down by 9%.
