Co-founder of Raven Software has left the company—he worked at the studio for 36 years

Brian Raffel announced his departure from Raven Software. He decided it's time to retire and enjoy a well-deserved rest.

Raffel, together with his brother Steve (Steve Raffel), founded Raven Software in 1990. Over time, it became a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard and achieved success with numerous games.

As noted by Raven Software in a farewell letter, under Raffel's leadership, the company released a total of 42 games, including Black Crypt, Hexen, Wolfenstein, STAR WARS Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, X-Men Legends, and 18 installments of Call of Duty. Ultimately, thanks to Raffel's efforts, the city of Madison, where the studio is based, became a significant location for the gaming industry.

Now, David Pellas will remain the sole head of Raven Software — he shared this position with Raffel for the past year and a half.
