Coffee Stain Malmö, a studio concentrating on mobile games, is closing its doors

The Malmö branch of Coffee Stain, known for Goat Simulator, has been shut down. Daniel Persson, who served as the VP of mobile, shared on LinkedIn that his tenure as head of the division is over.

Persson mentioned, "Creating this office from the beginning has been a standout moment in my professional life. It evolved from just an idea to a remarkable team composed of skilled individuals. I am incredibly proud of our achievements."

The official site of Coffee Stain Malmö lists 17 employees, but it is uncertain if they were laid off or integrated into other parts of the Coffee Stain Group. A request for more information has been made by GamesIndustry.biz.

Last December, Coffee Stain separated from Embracer Group. Phil Rogers, Embracer’s CEO, described this separation as an important step in refining and enhancing the company’s operations.

Rogers stated, "Armed with strong IPs, dedicated communities, and innovative talent, we believe in Coffee Stain’s success as an independent entity."

In April 2024, Embracer revealed plans to divide into three groups: Asmodee Group, Coffee Stain and Friends, and Middle-Earth Enterprises.

Coffee Stain and Friends was renamed to Coffee Stain Group, while Middle-Earth Enterprises transformed into Fellowship Entertainment.

In February 2025, Asmodee was also spun off from Embracer, whereas Fellowship Entertainment retained its association with the Embracer Group.
