Smartphones and shopping

Shopping with a smartphone is becoming commonplace in the United States. Developers who create applications related to the purchase of goods on the Internet in one way or another should pay special attention to statistics.

According to data published by comScore, in September of this year, two-thirds of American smartphone owners used their devices to purchase goods or select the items they would like to purchase. In other words, about 90 million American users went online from their advanced gadgets to purchase discount coupons, compare products with each other, as well as search for the nearest shopping center.

Of these 90 million users, 47% bought some kind of digital product (a song, a movie, an e-book) in September. Ten percent less – 37% of users – purchased clothes or jewelry. See the full list of purchase types below.

Among the curious figures are the places where purchases were made. About 42% of users were shopping right at work, and 36% often made the final choice using their AI or android phone while already in the store. The majority of users – 56% – have made a purchase from home at least once. Also, a solid number of users – 37% – bought something while on the go.
