Schreier: Sony has shut down Dark Outlaw Games, a studio founded by a former Call of Duty developer

The gaming division of Sony has decreased by one more studio. According to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, the corporation has parted ways with Dark Outlaw Games, which had not managed to release any games.

It is suggested that Dark Outlaw Games was working on a certain title, which was in the early stages of development.

Let us recall that the launch of Dark Outlaw Games was announced only a year ago, although, according to their LinkedIn account, the studio was formally founded in 2024. It was led by Jason Blundell, a veteran of Treyarch, who had previously contributed to various parts of Call of Duty.

Remarkably, before founding Dark Outlaw Games, Blundell had already collaborated with Sony, albeit not very successfully. His previous studio, Deviation Games, was supposed to develop an innovative shooter with the corporation’s support, but it closed in early 2024. However, unlike Dark Outlaw Games, Deviation Games was not a subsidiary of Sony, but merely a partner.

Dark Outlaw Games is the second studio Sony closed in 2026. Earlier, it disbanded Bluepoint Games.
