Rumor has it that Sony is scaling back its presence in the mobile gaming market
Perhaps, the closure of Dark Outlaw Games is not the only change in Sony's gaming business. It is reported that the corporation has also decided to almost entirely cease its involvement with mobile games.
Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble
This was initially reported by a ResetEra forum user with the nickname J-Soul. According to them, Sony aims to focus on a few major mobile games and discontinue the rest. Nonetheless, it will continue developing previously announced titles like Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble and support games that have already been released.
Later, in the comments under J-Soul's post, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier confirmed the user's information, but refrained from delving into details, limiting his response to a single word — "yup." It is worth noting that in the same post, J-Soul previously mentioned Schreier about the disbandment of Dark Outlaw Games, so it is possible the reporter was reacting to this information.
However, on his Bluesky account, Schreier added that Sony has conducted layoffs in its mobile division. In total, it has reduced staff by 50 people.
Sony itself has not commented on the rumors.
