Remedy has launched the final update for FBC: Firebreak, ensuring the game will remain online "for years to come"

Remedy Entertainment, the Finnish game developer, has launched the final significant content update for their struggling multiplayer game, FBC: Firebreak.
In a statement to its investors, the company outlined the new additions included in the Open House update. This update features Control-themed content and introduces the Friend's Pass, enabling Firebreak purchasers to invite others to join the game. Additionally, the game’s price has been lowered to draw in more players.
Although this is the last substantial update, Remedy has emphasized that the game will remain accessible and operational "for years to come," likely in response to concerns following other games, like Highguard, which were discontinued soon after release due to issues.
Game director Mike Kayatta expressed, "FBC: Firebreak was developed by a team driven by creativity and innovation. Those elements defined the game, but it was the players' interactions that truly brought it to life."
Kayatta continued by saying, "We want to ensure those experiences continue for both existing players and newcomers seeking an engaging, low-pressure game night with friends. That’s why the relay servers will remain active, the cost is reduced, and the Friend's Pass is introduced. Thank you from the entire team for your enthusiasm and creativity. We look forward to seeing you in the game."
Launched in June 2025, FBC: Firebreak marked Remedy's first foray into multiplayer gaming but faced disappointing reviews and sales. Consequently, the company revised its financial projections for the year due to the game's "weak sales." Remedy later acknowledged it was "not satisfied" with its performance in the third quarter, attributing this to Firebreak's underwhelming results.
In a leadership change last October, Tero Virtala resigned as CEO of Remedy after nine years, having assumed the role in 2016. Former EA Vice President Jean-Charles Gaudechon has since been appointed as the new CEO.
