Crystal Dynamics has cut 20 positions from its staff
Crystal Dynamics, known for developing the Tomb Raider franchise, has confirmed further job cuts affecting 20 of its team members in both development and central operations.
Through a LinkedIn announcement, the company discussed a review of its organizational structure to ensure it matches their strategic objectives, resulting in the latest layoffs. The statement noted, "While we strive to find new roles for our team, it has unfortunately become necessary for us to make these changes."
The team assured their ongoing dedication to the upcoming Tomb Raider projects, which include a reimagined version of Legacy of Atlantis from 1996 and a new installment, Tomb Raider: Catalyst. These projects were unveiled at The Game Awards in December.
The studio expressed gratitude for the contributions made by the impacted individuals, highlighting, "We are providing them with severance packages and assistance to ease their transition."
They furthered, "This decision is particularly challenging for us, especially after last year's restructuring."
In the prior year, the company underwent restructuring with multiple rounds of layoffs: 17 employees in March, an undisclosed number in August, and 30 in November.
