Reports have emerged indicating that Warner Bros Montréal has recently faced some layoffs, though the exact number remains undisclosed.

Several individuals who were reportedly affected by the layoffs disclosed on LinkedIn that their positions were eliminated last Friday, March 13. The affected roles spanned different fields, such as narrative, design, and production.

GamesIndustry.biz has reached out to WB Montréal for comments on the situation.

The studio, known for its development of Gotham Knights and Batman: Arkham Origins, previously worked alongside Monolith Productions on the now-canceled Wonder Woman game, which was discontinued last year.

In 2024, the company announced job cuts impacting 99 employees.

The recent layoffs coincide with the ongoing acquisition developments involving Warner Bros. Discovery. Initially, Netflix agreed in December to purchase the media conglomerate for $82.7 billion. However, last month, Paramount Skydance presented a higher offer, surpassing Netflix's bid.

Netflix's co-CEO, Ted Sarandos, commented that Paramount's offer relies heavily on cost reductions.

He noted that WB's gaming division, encompassing WB Studios, Rocksteady, TT Games, Avalanche Software, NetherRealm Studios, Portkey Games, and mobile studios, might face the impact of these changes.

Warner Bros' latest financial statement offered limited information about its gaming operations but mentioned efforts in revamping its portfolio.

Additionally, the company's Studios segment, which includes gaming, experienced a year-over-year downturn of 14%.
