In 2025, the developers of Genshin Impact won a lawsuit for $5.4 million against leak authors and hackers
miHoYo has reported on the progress of the company's "intellectual property protection operation" — an initiative where the creators of Genshin Impact have been combating leaks, counterfeit merchandise, cheats, and other similar issues for nearly four years. As it turns out, the initiative has been quite fruitful.

In its official WeChat account, the company reported that in 2025 alone, it filed civil suits against 2,388 individuals and participated in 22 criminal investigations. As a result, miHoYo was able to secure 37 million yuan ($5.39 million) in compensation through court rulings.
However, miHoYo noted that not all identified rights violators publicly admitted their guilt — 1,240 individuals made the corresponding declaration.
Notably, in 2025, miHoYo’s "intellectual property protection operation" gained significant momentum. Last February, the developers of Genshin Impact claimed that in 2022, 2023, and 2024, they held only 200 leak authors accountable.
