The original creators behind Bossfight Entertainment have launched a new independent venture using the same name. Despite achieving success with 'Squid Game: Unleashed,' released in December 2024, the company was closed by Netflix in October 2025. Previously, Netflix had acquired the studio in 2022.

Operating out of Dallas, Texas, the newly reformed studio is led by CEO David Rippy, Chief Product Officer Bill Jackson, and COO Scott Winsett. They are currently developing a new game for PC and mobile platforms, although details about the title remain under wraps.

"This initiative is about getting the band back together," said Rippy. "We've been collaborating on game development for more than ten years. Bringing back the leadership under the Bossfight brand and adhering to our foundational principles is something we're thrilled about."

Winsett expressed, "We aim to keep a compact, efficient core team concentrating on creative and effective execution. By partnering with reliable external teams, we can scale as needed, allowing us to remain flexible while meeting the expectations for high-quality game production."

Earlier this year, a group of former developers from Bossfight Entertainment established Sunwise Games. This new entity is an independent PC game studio dedicated to creating games with deep systems, clearly defined progress, and fair monetization practices.

The team at Sunwise Games includes 26 former Bossfight developers along with other recruits, bringing their total workforce to 30.
