Slay the Spire 2 has reached close to 575,000 players simultaneously, coming close to surpassing the record set by Silksong.

Mega Crit's latest offering, Slay the Spire 2, a follow-up in their popular deck-building franchise, attracted up to 574,638 players simultaneously on Sunday, as per SteamDB data. This impressive figure is just shy of the 587,150 concurrent players record set by Hollow Knight: Silksong in 2025.
The game was made available in Steam Early Access on March 5, with Video Game Insights estimating sales of 2.8 million copies, accumulating approximately $55.1 million. The popularity persists as it remains on 2.4 million wish lists.
In contrast, the original Slay the Spire exceeded sales of 1.5 million copies on Steam from its Early Access debut in 2017 until March 2019, with its full release on January 23, 2019. It later became available on consoles and mobile devices, with Balor Games acquiring the console publishing rights.

The successor follows the sales trend observed with the first game. Based on VGI data, approximately 43% of Slay the Spire 2 players are located in China, totaling 51% from Asia overall. Meanwhile, around 25% of the user base is from North America and 19% from Europe.
The sequel marked a switch to the Godot engine, a move prompted by Mega Crit's public criticism of Unity's Runtime Fee policy in 2023. Emilio Coppola, serving as the Godot Foundation's executive director, noted a "huge increase in popularity" of the Godot engine during an interview with GamesIndustry.biz last year following the Unity fee controversy.
