Seasoned industry professional establishes Rocket Game Talent, an agency dedicated to independent talent
Fiona Cherback, who previously led talent acquisition at PlayStation and Xbox, has started Rocket Game Talent. This agency specializes in hiring for AAA titles and helps indie studios with recruitment strategies.
Providing recruitment solutions to various studio sizes, Rocket Game Talent emphasizes assisting smaller studios and startups. These teams may not have strong brand visibility, existing recruitment frameworks, or attractive salary offers.
Its services include developing recruitment processes, cultivating talent operations, and enhancing employer branding. Rocket Game Talent also focuses on establishing university ties, promoting diversity in hiring, and increasing visibility at industry events.
Cherbak, who has experience in both AAA and indie games, remarked on her dual expertise: "I’ve honed skills in both realms."
She said, "I know why a small studio can't recruit like a giant such as Xbox and how to attract top-notch talent regardless. I understand the dynamics of both big-budget productions and modest startups, and this breadth is beneficial for you."
Cherbak formerly played a crucial role in talent acquisition at Sony PlayStation Worldwide Studios, aiding Santa Monica Studio in recruiting over 250 developers for 'God of War.' She also contributed to staffing and launching 'Bioshock: Infinite' for Irrational Games.
At Xbox Game Studios, she managed talent programs for 14 internal teams, working on series like 'Gears of War,' 'Halo,' and 'Forza.'
Furthermore, Cherback was a co-founder of Women in Games International and chaired the IGDA's Women in Games initiative.
