Electronic Arts is set to introduce a new platform and marketplace for user-generated content in The Sims 4.
The initiative, known as the Sims Maker Program, will allow creators to develop and share custom content directly through The Sims 4 Marketplace. This platform goes live on March 17, 2026, for PC and Mac users, with PlayStation and Xbox support following later.
According to EA, these creators, referred to as 'Makers', will retain "creative ownership of their work," allowing them to package and price their content under Marketplace guidelines.
Creators receive compensation in the form of a virtual currency, Moola, with a 30% revenue share. This translates to earning $0.30 for every 100 Moola spent.
For context, Roblox creators retain between 50% and 70% of earnings in its user-generated content marketplace.
EA has committed to covering "all costs and fees associated with publishing," which includes platform fees, VAT, server costs, and other related expenses.
Additionally, EA plans to reinvest in the program by enhancing tools and resources for Makers, supporting quality assurance processes, and translating each Maker Pack into 18 supported languages.
Gamers will be able to purchase these creations as Maker Packs, which can feature Create-A-Sim and Build/Buy mode items, containing between three and 30 assets.
EA assured that The Sims 4 Marketplace will not take the place of free content, allowing Makers to still offer free or paid early access custom content or mods through different platforms under its mod policy.
Nonetheless, content up for sale on other platforms will not be eligible for the Marketplace.
