Halfbrick, a mobile game studio located in Australia, has announced the reduction of 41 positions and the termination of several international collaborations.

Through a LinkedIn message, the creators behind Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride revealed they "made some difficult decisions" to navigate "a challenging period for the games industry." This was confirmed by MobileGamer.biz, which stated 41 positions would be cut.

The company emphasized that these decisions were based on strategic needs rather than personal performance, acknowledging the significant contributions of affected employees. They mentioned, "The impacted individuals have contributed greatly to Halfbrick's projects, supported its community, and played a vital role in the studio. We deeply appreciate all they have given to our company."

The statement expressed gratitude, stating: "To those impacted, thank you for your service. Your efforts here have been valued, and working with you has been beneficial."

Halfbrick has been committed to managing this transition with "care, respect, and genuine appreciation for the people who have significantly contributed to Halfbrick."

The studio released its new project, Bluey's Quest for the Gold Pen, for iOS in December 2025 and for Android in January 2026. The console and PC launch is planned for May 28, 2026.

Back in 2018, it was reported that Halfbrick had reduced its workforce by more than half, leaving less than 30 employees, who were focused solely on maintaining Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride.
