Warner Bros. Discovery wants to "rebuild" its gaming pipeline
Warner Bros. Discovery announced this in its financial report for the fourth quarter of 2025.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
In the document, the company did not delve into details and did not specify exactly what it intends to change. Jean-Briac Perrette, head of Warner Bros. Games, talked a little about their gaming plans during an investor conference call, but he was not overly forthcoming either.
Perrette stated that 2026 will be largely similar to 2025 for the gaming division, a year which was marked by a reset. Recall that during the restructuring, Warner Bros. Discovery closed several studios, including Monolith Productions, and decided to focus on four franchises: Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, DC, and Game of Thrones. According to Perrette, all these measures allowed them to "lean back on proven studios and reliable games," but as a result, they couldn't add new major projects to the portfolio last year. For 2026, the company has also announced few games, but some announcements are still ahead. Specifically, they plan to announce work on games based on their biggest IPs.
It is already known that in 2026, under the Warner Bros. Discovery umbrella, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and Game of Thrones: Dragonfire will be released. Additionally, the company is working on a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy, although it's unlikely to debut this year.
It should be noted that by the end of the fourth quarter of 2025, Warner Bros. Discovery's revenue from video games dropped by 34% year-over-year. Operational expenses for gaming content also decreased — by 46%. How much this is in dollars, the company did not disclose.
