Rumor: Tencent plans to add a UGC mode to Honor of Kings
Chinese majors are closely following the success of Roblox, and therefore they continue to integrate UGC solutions into their major titles.
Following HoYoverse, which previously introduced similar functionality for Genshin Impact, Tencent has reportedly decided to take a similar step.
As reported by Thai blogger Mickeymickmmouse, the company has posted over 20 job openings related to the development of a UGC platform on its official recruitment site.
Allegedly, the task of the future employees will be to create similar tools for the mobile game Honor of Kings, one of Tencent's highest-grossing titles: "players will be able to create their own maps, modes, and new experiences."
The publication App2Top.ru verified the blogger's data. Indeed, according to the open positions, the Chinese giant is working on a UGC platform. However, the published documents do not specify that it is specifically for Honor of Kings.
It is worth noting that at its peak, the mobile version, a variation on the League of Legends theme, had a DAU of over 100 million users. The game's revenue on iOS alone in China surpassed the $12 billion mark two years ago.
