Amazon Game Studios has closed down Glowmade's online multiplayer game, King of Meat
Amazon Game Studios is ending service for Glowmade's online multiplayer game, King of Meat. According to a post on the game's homepage, its servers will go offline on April 9, 2026.
Starting February 23, King of Meat was removed from sale across digital platforms, and the option to make in-game purchases is no longer available.
Amazon remarked that despite Glowmade's efforts and innovation with King of Meat, the game did not attract the expected audience, prompting the decision to withdraw further investment.
Individuals who bought the game will receive refunds automatically from their respective platform providers, with returns processed between February 24 and April 9, 2026.
Amazon extended gratitude to King of Meat's supporters and the community that emerged around it, acknowledging the impact of their engagement, creativity, and feedback.
The company also expressed appreciation for their collaboration with Glowmade and wished the developer success in future endeavors.
King of Meat made its debut in October 2025. Just two months post-launch, the game significantly underperformed according to internal metrics, resulting in workforce reductions.
Glowmade was established in 2015 by ex-Lionhead Studios members. Their collaboration with Amazon began in 2021 as the tech giant expanded its third-party publishing efforts.
Jon Rosenblatt, the former EMEA publishing director for Amazon Game Studios, noted in a 2024 GamesIndustry.biz interview that King of Meat offered an excellent chance to collaborate with a skilled team from Guildford and enhance the game's potential.
Recently, it was revealed that Amazon plans to discontinue its MMO, New World: Aeternum, with its servers scheduled to shut down on January 31, 2027.
Work on the game was paused in October 2025, with no further updates planned, as part of broad restructuring efforts at Amazon, which impacted 14,000 positions.
