Nexon has announced that Patrick Söderlund is taking up the role of executive chairman to push forward its international strategies, alter creative directions, and oversee future expansion.

Söderlund, who presently leads Embark Studios as CEO and has previously been a key figure at EA and DICE, shared through LinkedIn that his responsibilities will include spearheading a strategic overhaul across the company's portfolio, mergers and acquisitions, and development of organizational structures.

Having been part of Nexon's board since Embark's investment by Nexon in 2018, Söderlund will continue his leadership at Embark Studios.

In a statement, Söderlund highlighted, "Nexon possesses significant potential for remarkable growth — with its talented workforce, iconic game series, dedicated player bases, and superior live-service expertise. This represents a significant opportunity requiring concentrated focus and discipline, which Junghun and I agree upon, and I'm eager to begin."

Nexon's President and CEO Junghun Lee commented, "Patrick and I are in complete agreement on the need to revolutionize Nexon. He's well-versed in creating successful studios, bringing in top-tier talent, and releasing major hits globally, which is precisely what Nexon requires at this time."

Nexon, the publisher of Arc Raiders, recently disclosed its 2025 financial results, highlighting a third consecutive year of record revenue. The success is credited to titles like Dungeon & Fighter, MapleStory, and Arc Raiders, which has surpassed 14 million sales.
