Sony is shutting down Bluepoint Games. The creators of the Demon's Souls remake will be left without a job
As reported by Bloomberg, Sony Group Corporation has decided to shut down its division previously responsible for creating remakes and remasters of iconic PlayStation titles.
About 70 employees will be left without jobs. Officially, the studio will cease operations next month. The reasons for the closure have not been disclosed. This decision was made following the latest business review.
Founded in Austin in 2006, the studio specialized in remakes and remasters. Specifically, it was responsible for porting the Uncharted series and classics like Shadow of the Colossus to modern platforms. It created the remake of Demon’s Souls for PlayStation 5 and assisted in the development of God of War Ragnarok.
The studio's closure comes after the cancellation of a live-service game based on the God of War franchise. Work on it was halted in January 2025. The company spent the past year pitching new ideas. As we can see, none of them resonated with Sony's management.
