Media: Tencent became the primary early-stage investor in Highguard
This information is reported by sources from Game File. However, the size of the investment is not specified.
In his latest newsletter, journalist Stephen Totilo reported that TiMi Studio Group, Tencent's main gaming division, is the leading investor in Wildlight Entertainment. The company is responsible for hits like Honor of Kings, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Delta Force.
Tencent was likely a key investor in Wildlight, at least in the early stages. The developers themselves have previously publicly described themselves as a fully-funded studio. It is possible that there were other investors, but their names have not been disclosed.
Last week, it was revealed that there were massive layoffs at Wildlight. The exact number of developers who lost their jobs is unclear. However, recently, it was noted online that the Highguard website is no longer operational, although the game itself is still available in digital stores.
