Nintendo has taken new action to enforce its copyright, sending a number of DMCA notices to emulators hosted on GitHub.

According to PC Gamer, emulators such as Citron, Eden, Kenji-NX, MelonNX, and several others, have been informed by GitHub of these requests.

A message from GitHub Trust & Safety stated that while they aim to support developers, the notices required certain actions, providing options to address the issues. If these were not addressed within one business day, it could result in the repository being removed.

Reacting on Discord, Eden developer maufeat explained to users that due to the DMCA notice, users would need to download updates directly from them in the future, highlighting that forks often face similar actions on GitHub.

This development continues Nintendo's legal efforts against similar platforms, including initiatives against Yuzu and Tropic Haze. Moreover, last year, the company barred Switch 2 players from online access for using certain flash cartridges associated with pirated games.

Nintendo has also updated its account policies to enforce stricter measures against emulation and piracy activities.
