The visual novel Slay the Princess has sold over a million copies
It took her just under two and a half years: Slay the Princess was released on October 23, 2023.

“When we started working on the game, we couldn't have imagined where it would lead us. In the gaming industry, visual novels are often underestimated and looked down upon, so it seemed impossible to us that our game could reach such an impressive sales milestone, bolstered by critical and audience acclaim. Yet, it did. Without you [the players], this wouldn't have happened,” said Black Tabby Games.
The developers added that the good reception of Slay the Princess and the support from gamers "have forever changed the lives" of the team. Thanks to this, they were able to freely pursue their passion.
Here's how the sales timeline for Slay the Princess looks currently:
- 100 thousand copies — November 30, 2023;
- 200 thousand copies — March 5, 2024;
- 500 thousand copies — November 21, 2024;
- 1 million copies — February 2, 2026.
Slay the Princess is a psychological horror in visual novel format set in a cabin in the woods. The plot follows the main character tasked with killing a princess imprisoned in the basement, while she tries every means to stop him. If you succumb to her persuasion, the world will end.
The game is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
