Tencent-backed Video Games Growth Programme by UKIE returns, featuring a cohort of 30 studios

The UK Interactive Entertainment Association (UKIE) has introduced the roster of 30 game development companies participating in its second Video Games Growth Program. Supported by Tencent and the UK's Department for Business and Trade, the initiative aims to elevate the creative and commercial capacities of participating studios. Participants gain advantages from "expert-led" sessions and a "structured curriculum" facilitated by Player One Consulting, with Tencent offering additional insights.
Participants of the 2026 program are grouped into two categories: the "Accelerator" track targets emerging studios, while the "Scale-up" track is intended for established companies aiming to further grow.
Inaugurated in 2024, the Video Games Growth Program has become a significant project. According to Sir Chris Bryant, UK Minister of State for Business and Trade, the gaming sector contributes over £2 billion in GVA, exhibiting higher growth than other creative sectors. It also plays a crucial role in job creation and exports. Supported by the UK's Modern Industrial Strategy and a £30 million Games Growth Package, the initiative aids in fortifying regional development, supporting new developers, and maintaining the UK's status as Europe's leading gaming market.
Nick Poole, CEO of UKIE, expressed enthusiasm about the new cohort, highlighting the diverse talent represented. The program aims to equip these companies with the resources needed to confidently advance their businesses.
