Universal Studios Japan to launch an "Interactive" Pokémon experience
An announcement by The Pokémon Company alongside Universal Studios revealed a global initiative that will first launch at Universal Studios Japan. This "global development project" will then expand to other locations worldwide according to Theme Park Insider.
The project, unique in its approach, is anticipated to bring the Pokémon universe to audiences in an innovative, immersive format. However, it remains uncertain if this will mirror the Super Nintendo World area style or focus on a singular attraction.
According to Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO of The Pokémon Company, since 2021, their collaboration with Universal Studios Japan has resulted in events like the No Limit Parade and special Halloween shows. He highlighted the timing of this new initiative, coinciding with Pokémon's 30th anniversary, which seeks to enrich both real and digital spaces for fans globally.
Mark Woodbury, chairman and CEO of Universal Destinations & Experiences, emphasized the power of collaboration with creative partners like The Pokémon Company. The partnership aims to produce captivating attractions that redefine guest experiences while continuing to breathe life into the beloved Pokémon universe.
Additionally, a Pokémon-themed amusement park is anticipated to open soon in Yomiuriland, Tokyo. Known as PokéPark Kanto, this outdoor facility will include a variety of attractions such as a Pokémon Forest, Trainers' Market, Gym, and Battle Court.
