The creators of 'Clair Obscur: Expedition 33' at Sandfall Interactive have decided against expanding their studio, despite recent financial success. "We prioritize creating games over management tasks," they said.

Speaking to Edge magazine, and highlighted by GamesRadar+, both creative director Guillaume Broche and lead programmer Tom Guillermin addressed questions regarding whether the studio would consider growing in size following the significant success of their JRPG, Expedition 33.

Broche noted, "Creativity thrives with constraints," when asked about the potential temptation to expand future projects. He stated that the team is not inclined to grow just because of the available resources, preferring a more direct involvement in game development rather than moving into large-scale management.

Guillermin elaborated, explaining that the current team dynamics are effective, with familiarity and established collaboration seen as key strengths. "A solid foundation from past projects supports us, and indiscriminately expanding is not our aim," he remarked. "Crafting quality games is our main goal, and a smaller team suits us well."

Recently, ‘Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’ was honored as Game of the Year at the 15th Annual New York Game Awards. It has also received eight nominations at the 26th Game Developer Choice Awards and earned similar recognition for the upcoming 2026 DICE Awards.
