Facebook and Twitter in mobile apps
According to statistics provided by Localytics, developers prefer Facebook, while Twitter users are more active. Thousands of applications based on Android, iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7 were studied from January to July 2011.
Facebook and Twitter have been found out that despite the fact that Twitter and Facebook features can be added to the application, many developers choose only one social network: half of the applications using integration with social networks have only Facebook.
At the same time, it turned out that Twitter users are much more active: on average, an ordinary “Tweeter” creates three times more content. And despite the fact that Facebook’s audience is much larger, Twitter users share information about apps about 5 times more often. And considering how much Apple has integrated Twitter into the new iOS 5, there is a chance that Twitter will gain even more popularity among mobile users in the near future.
Why not all mobile app developers use the capabilities of social networks is a big question, because it’s no secret that this is a very important part of the package of promotion measures. Word of mouth is still one of the best promotion tools. When a user clicks the “share” or like button, he not only distributes information about the application, he also gives his approval, which can be decisive for his friends. In addition, the editors of the “review” portals are more likely to make their choice in favor of the application that everyone is talking about and writing about.
