Amazon Games plans to discontinue its MMO title, New World: Aeternum, with servers set to be closed on January 31, 2027.

The game's removal from online stores occurred on January 15, but existing players who acquired the game before this date can continue to access it until next year.

Beginning on July 20, 2026, it will no longer be possible to purchase in-game currency or any items within the game.

Although new content will not be introduced, the developers have committed to managing bug fixes and performance issues to ensure smooth operation until the end.

The team expressed gratitude to the community, stating, "We want to thank the players for your dedication and passion," and highlighted the unique world created together with the players of Aeternum. They remarked, "While we are saddened to say goodbye, we're honoured that we were able to share so much with the community."

Furthermore, the developers mentioned, "It has been our pleasure to work on New World and evolve this unforgettable adventure with you all. We look forward to one more year together, and giving this fantastic adventure a sendoff worthy of a legendary hero. From the bottom of all our hearts, thank you for sharing this world with us."

In October, Amazon Games announced that no further content upgrades would be made to New World, as the development was put on hold.

This decision was part of larger reductions at Amazon that affected approximately 14,000 positions, attributed to "organisational changes" focused on simplifying operations and reallocating resources.

The game, initially known simply as New World, was first slated for an August 2020 release but was postponed to September 2021 for its launch on PC, with the final version becoming available in October on PC and console platforms.
