Rainbow Six Siege, a staple shooter from Ubisoft, recently encountered significant disruptions when hackers compelled the developer to temporarily disable the game over the holiday period.

On Ubisoft's Service Status page, issues with connectivity, authentication, the in-game store, and matchmaking remain highlighted as "unplanned." These notifications persist days after players were informed of the breach on December 27.

The breach led to hackers purportedly banning and unbanning numerous accounts, resetting the ban feed, and distributing two billion credits, renown, and premium skins to all players. Consequently, the developers decided to shut down the game and its store to conduct a thorough investigation.

Ubisoft assured users that there would be no repercussions for using the unauthorized funds. Transactions conducted during the breach were reverted, and a controlled "soft" re-launch, available only via invite, commenced on December 29.

Following the game's relaunch, Ubisoft expressed gratitude for the community's patience while they worked to address and resolve the ongoing issues, aiming to ensure uninterrupted gameplay for all.

Details about the unauthorized party's hack remain sparse, though Ubisoft did confirm that a R6 ShieldGuard ban wave took place independently of this specific incident.
